Area: Common tolerances

When exporting, the common tolerance can be calculated for marked dimensions without tolerance specifications. In this area you can view the standard definitions and create your own definitions.

Two different types of definitions are distinguished “Table-based” and “Accuracy-based”. The former is dependent on the value of the test measure and the latter is dependent on the specified accuracy of the measure.

A definition consists of two elements of the parent “class” and the associated “tolerance groups”. Ideally, groups are created for all dimensional classes (lengths, angles, chamfers) and assigned to a class.

Create tolerances

You can create or edit your own definitions for general tolerances. The standard existing definitions can not be edited.

Tolerance class

Tolerance classes combine several tolerance groups into one general tolerance. Using the buttons displayed next to the list of tolerance classes (above), you can create new classes or edit or delete existing classes. In the “Edit tolerance class” dialogue you can define the display name.

Using the buttons displayed next to the list of tolerance classes (below), you can assign one or more tolerance groups to a tolerance class or delete an assignment. Ideally, groups are created for all dimensional classes (lengths, angles, chamfers) and assigned to a class. The groups assigned to a tolerance are displayed to the right of the list of tolerance classes.

Tolerance group

Tolerance groups define the actual dimensions for a dimension class (lengths, angles, chamfers). There are two types of groups “table-based” and “accuracy-based”. The former is dependent on the value of the test dimension and the latter is dependent on the specified accuracy of the dimension.

In the dialogue “Edit group” you can set the following properties:

  • Name: Name of the tolerance group.
  • Dimension class: Dimension class of the tolerance group (lengths, angles, chamfers)
  • Dimension type: Dimension type of the tolerance group (length, diameter, radius, angle, other)
  • Property filter: Here, property filters of the tolerance group can be edited in a dialogue.
  • Unit: The unit on which the definition is based.
  • Definition type: Table or accuracy-based.

In the list displayed in the dialogue you can see the dimensions defined for the tolerance group. For “table-based” groups, this shows the min. value, max. value and the dimension. value and the dimension, for “accuracy-based” groups the accuracy and the dimension.
