Licensing

After a trial period of 30 days, the PRO version of Reitec.PMM must be licensed. The different licensing methods are explained below and the respective advantages and disadvantages are listed.

Cloud licensing

With cloud licensing, a connection to our cloud server is established when the programme is started and a free licence is searched for. If a licence is available, it is blocked for other users until the programme is closed again. If all purchased licences are already locked by other users, an error message appears stating that no free licence is available.

Advantages of cloud licensing

  • Multiple users can share licences (only Reitec.PMM).
  • No installation of licence components on own servers necessary.
  • With an existing internet connection and free licences, a licence can always be retrieved.
  • No administrative activities are necessary when renewing the maintenance contract.

Disadvantages of cloud licensing

  • If there is no internet connection, no licence can be retrieved.

Single-user licensing

For single-user licensing, each PC on which Reitec.PMM is installed must be licensed. Activation takes place in the programme under Help → Activate licence. Here the user selects a licence file sent to him by us.

Advantages of single-user licensing

  • No network or internet connection necessary.
  • The licence is always available.

Disadvantages of single-user licensing

  • Licence is only valid for one PC.
  • A new licence file must be imported when the maintenance contract is renewed.

Network licensing

With network licensing, as with cloud licensing, licences are blocked when the programme is started and released again when it is closed. Network licensing requires the installation of our free licence service on a separate server.

Advantages of network licensing

  • Several users can share licences (only Reitec.PMM).
  • No internet connection is necessary.

Disadvantages of network licensing

  • The free Reitec licence service must be installed on a server.
  • If the licence service runs on a virtual machine and the hardware properties change, a new licence file must be requested and imported, as the previous licence loses its validity.
  • If the maintenance contract is renewed, a new licence file must be imported.

Which method should be chosen

Depending on the use of Reitec.PMM and the infrastructure in the company, a different method of licensing is suitable.

Cloud licensing should be chosen if

  • Reitec.PMM is installed on several PCs.
  • Users share the licences.
  • No additional effort is desired by installing the licence service.

Single-user licensing should be selected if

  • No internet or network connection is available.
  • Reitec.PMM is only used on one or a few PCs.
  • The licence should always be available.

Network licensing should be selected if

  • Licence management is to be carried out on the user's own network.
  • Reitec.PMM is installed on several PCs.
  • Users share the licences.
