====== MeXX Structure View ====== The structure view displays the elements in their hierarchical relationship and supports the user in the uniform storage of his data. However, the structure also enables an efficient access to the stored data. The elements contained in the structure and their hierarchical relationship are strongly dependent on the respective configuration. The tree view can be displayed in the data area on the right or in the navigation area in the middle. {{mexx:usage:treeview_overview.png?500|}} Depending on the configuration and the category of the selected element, different functions are available. The possible functions are accessed either via the ribbon or the context menu of the element. ===== Creating and inserting elements ===== New elements are created using the "New", "Insert", or "Link" functions in the context menu of an element. {{:mexx:usage:treeview_newelements.png?300|}} **New element** \\ The new elements possible under the selected element (according to the configuration) are displayed in the context menu. Clicking on the desired entry opens the "Create" dialog with the data sheet of the new element. You can now make the appropriate entries. **Insert element** \\ Reusable data records such as article data records or customer data records do not have to be created each time but are created once in the respective category folder and inserted elsewhere using the "Add" function. If an element has its own structure, it is also copied. If such an element is deleted from the structure, only the link is removed, the actual element is retained. **Internal link** \\ Internal links are possible to all "unique" data records such as a project or a file. If the target element of the link has its own structure, this is __not__ copied. ===== Further structure functions ===== **Goto / Back** \\ The functions "Go to" and "Back" allow you to navigate quickly between structures. The "Go to" function is available on all linked elements, e.g. an inserted test item or an internal project link. **Sequence of elements** \\ The functions "Up" and "Down" can be used to change the sequence of elements within a structure level. **Sorting of elements** \\ The "Sort" function alphabetically sorts the elements of a structure level. **Copy & Paste** \\ Using the functions "Copy", "Cut" and "Paste" it is possible to copy elements within a structure. Before insertion, it is checked that the element to be inserted is permitted at the selected position. ---- The content refers to version 2.7
