====== MeXX Folders ====== Folders are a grouping of existing elements of the same category and thus enable direct and fast access to the stored structures. \\ Screenshot of the folder bar: {{:mexx:usage:folder_list.png?linkonly|Folder Bar}} There are three types of folders: - **Global Folders** \\ Global folders are the same for all users, they are set up by the system administrator and cannot be deleted, renamed or created by the user. Global folders are always category folders and contain all items of a category. \\ \\ - **Favorites Folders** \\ Favorites folders can be created, renamed and deleted by the user. A distinction is made between Favorites folders and Category folders, the first contains selected items of a category, the second contains all existing items of a category.\\ \\ - **Search Results** \\ Search results are automatically saved in a search results folder. If the result set is imprecise, the search can be edited and executed again. The'Refresh' function can also be used to execute the search again. If the search result contains elements from multiple categories, a mixed folder is created and only the element description is displayed in the list. For more information on creating a search, see chapter [[mexx:usage:search|Searching]] \\ \\ ===== Working with folders ===== In the context menu of the folder bar numerous folder-specific editing functions are available. {{:mexx:usage:folder_context.png?200|}} **1) New Folder** \\ The "New folder" function is only available in the "Favorites" area. Now you can decide whether all items of the selected category should be contained in this folder (category folder), or whether you want to save certain selected items in this folder later (favorites folder). Favorites folders are initially empty. Give the folder a name or adopt the proposed name. **2) Rename** \\ Select a folder, right-click on the folder bar and select "Rename". Enter a new name for the folder. This will now appear behind the icon in the folder bar. **3) Manage** \\ The "Manage" entry in the context menu takes you to the folder management dialog. All folders of the active area are displayed there. You can delete selected folders or change the order in which they are displayed. {{:mexx:usage:folder_manage.png?200|}} **Favorites Folders:** Deletion has no effect on the items contained in the folder. For Favorites folders, only the shortcuts to the actual records are deleted. ---- The content refers to version 2.7
